On the afternoon of March 18, 2026, Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Inc., showed up at the Apple Store in Taikoo Li, Chengdu. It is reported that Cook was there to attend Apple’s 50th anniversary celebration. In preparation for the event marking Apple’s 50th anniversary, the Apple Store at Taikoo Li in Chengdu was temporarily closed for the day.
At the event, Chengdu-born singer Chris Lee (Li Yuchun) appeared and performed a series of songs, including Sister of Great Value, Same As You, and See You at the Next Crossing. Cook nodded along to the rhythm as the music played.
Chris Lee also specially performed a Chengdu-style song Shu Embroidery, which is related to Shu embroidery, a local intangible cultural heritage of Chengdu. In addition, she incorporated another intangible cultural heritage — face-changing — into her performance, allowing more people to experience the cultural charm of Chengdu. “This is also the first time I have combined the two, and I hope to present a unique display of cultural treasures on this stage,” she said.
Notably, in a recent media interview, Cook dismissed outside speculation about his impending retirement, stating that such claims were merely rumors.
