Tips for Traveling to China: Departure

Before departure, make sure everything is ready. Small details can often affect your trip.

  1. Make a to-do list
Write down all the things you need to prepare before leaving. You can make this list one day before your trip. Feel free to work on it with your family or travel companions—it will be much easier than thinking hard alone.Involve everyone in the trip. You can draft an outline first, read it to your family or companions for suggestions, and then improve the list. The more detailed and complete, the better.
  2. Finish preparations according to the list Pack your luggageBased on the climate and weather of your destination, prepare suitable clothes. Decide what to put in your luggage, what items are not allowed to be carried, and what can be bought locally so you don’t have to bring them.
Keep tickets, documents and passports in a special bagUse a dedicated pouch for frequently needed items such as ID cards, passports, bank cards, and transportation cards from your home country. Even if someone sees you off, a special bag is convenient and safe to carry with you during the trip.
Prepare other necessitiesConsider bringing medicine, a sun umbrella or rain umbrella, a water cup, snacks, and other daily items.
Arrange items properlyPut the most frequently used things on the outer layer of your luggage and the least used ones inside. Make good use of space.
Arrange for your petsIf you have pets at home, make sure they are well taken care of—either by a neighbor or a friend. Inform other family members if needed.
  3. Check and tick off the list
After finishing all preparations, go through the list one by one and tick off each item to confirm it is ready. Only start your journey when everything on the list is completed.
  4. Arrive at the airport early
Be sure to reach the airport well in advance to avoid rushing. Whether you are driven by family or friends, take a taxi, or use public transport, plan your time carefully. It is better to finish security checks early and wait in the terminal than to hurry at the last minute.
  5. Boarding the flight
While waiting, assign roles with your family or companions: who will watch the luggage, take care of children, handle check-in and baggage drop-off, etc. Do not get separated. If you need to leave briefly, always inform the others. When the boarding announcement is made, take all your belongings and board in order. After finding your seat, place your luggage where you can see it. Tell your companions where you put your bags and note each other’s seats to avoid separation after landing.
That’s all for today’s tips. Wish you a perfect trip!
